How remove copper sulfate?

I'm cleaning up a very old (75 years) all-metal chrome plated flashlite
(5-battery) and it has some copper sulfate around brass/copper eyelets.
Is there a common household substance that could be used on q-tips to
clean/dissolve the copper sulfate and wipe/rinse away? Would it take
an alkali (oven cleaner, etc.) or acid (muratic acid brick cleaner,
vinegar, etc.), or petro solvent (turpentine, acetone, etc.). Also,
would Copper Sulfate be considered an acid or alkali, or something
else?
Thanks, I'm new to group, pls advise if there are differnt or
additional groups I should post to,
George
.
