Carbonia(!): fake or reality?

Hi all,
pls have a look at this link:
http://physicsweb.org/articles/news/10/6/7/1?rss=2.0
at the specified p and T it seems to be stable the analogous
form of alpha-silica with carbon instead of silicon.
What do you think about?
Should that be stable against hydrolysis by moisture?
If not, should a diamond film deposition on its surface
be feasible, 'cause if yes it may help an overall stabilization
of that material, preserving its main optical properties?
Could in your opinion a a suited monocrystal be obtained
and, if so in a pure enantiomeric form?
Best regards,
Angelo
.
