We have made a solution of 20% NaOH.
After several weeks ayellow/brown sediment is formed in the solution.
The raw materials used are PH.EUR grade.
I have tested te Iron content : 0,5 ppm and the Na2CO3 content : 0,3%
What can cause this sedimentation ?
Many possibilities ... I guess. Sodium carbonate tends to settle out in
concentrated alkaline solutions. Iron (III) could be imparting its
brown color on the Na2CO3 precipitates. What is the container made of?
