I am really beginning to hate electrochemistry, I just don't get it.
Here is my question:
A pH electrode was used to determine the fluoride concentration of an
unknown sample....why wouldn't a fluoride ion selective electrode have
been used???? How does a pH electrode measure the concentration of
fluoride?
Consider this reaction:
F- + H2O <---> HF + OH-
Dangerous Bill
(of course, any sensible person would use a fluoride electrode, but
this is a homework problem, right?
Don't hate electrochemistry or your nerves will stop working.)
