What should I melt bismuth in?

I have some elemental bismuth that I want to grow some crystals with
and may make some slugs for mag lev experiments. I need a relatively
cheap store bought item that I can safely melt (on the stove top) and
re-harden it in. Does molten bismuth attack stainless steel or
aluminum. I have googled it and haven't seen any references that
answer that question. Just some stuff about bismuth containing steel
alloys and such. I am a little worried about using Pyrex, which I
assume would be alright chemically, because the small Pyrex containers
have are not designed for stove and bismuth expands on freezing which
would probably crack the Pyrex.
