Hello,
Do you know where I can buy a gallon of Methylene Chloride
please?
I am in North Hampshire, near Basingstoke .UK
I want to make one of those dipping birds....a big version....Is
Methylene Chloride the best chemical to use on a big version, or
is there a better fluid I can use?
Many thanks,
A more efficient liquid would be mercury,
The room temp. vapour pressure is a bit low! I wonder if of pentane
would work? (It's flammable!) Are you really sure you want to do this
on a gallon scale? Seems dangerous to me.
Well, you want a dense liquid with a low latent heat of vaporisation - with
methylene chloride at 406 kJ/kg and mercury at 281 kJ/kg, pentane is 363
kJ/kg. Could also use one of the commercial refrigerants such as Freon R-11,
which is probably better than methylene chloride.
Marcus
