Does any know how the following is possible or even better if
there is a product for it?

Transparent surface to visible light, when is in contact with
hydrocarbon gas to alter the color of the surface or even better
alter the opacity of the material.

Yes, I've seen this.  Take an uncured liquid precusor
for a soft transparent silicone elastomer (such as
DC 4939) and mix in silicone resin particles (such as
TOSPEARL) to the highest filler loading you can get.
Then cure the elastomer.

Because the index of refraction between the filler
and the matrix matches, this material will be clear.
Expose it to solvent, and the matrix will swell up
and separate from the filler, which turns the material
milky white.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you know what kind of companies produce this kind of materials, or
can you suggest me how to search for them?
