For instance, since I'm in Norway, in northern part of
Europe, there's not very much use in referring to products
only available in US stores.

Set fruit fly traps in your fruit trees.
Use about 2 litre plastic bottles. Cut a small slot in the neck of the
bottle about 3mm X 50 mm, about 100mm below the top.
Part fill the bottle with urine (human piss, dog's piss, cat's piss, any
piss) with a couple of spoons of sugar dissolved in it, also some yeast
extract like marmite, Bovril or Vegemite (if you are Australian) added to
the mix. It will attract fruit fly into the bottle and they will be trapped.
They fly up to the top (closed by the cap) and will die in the trap. This
makes the mixture even more smelly and attracts more flies. Soon. no more
fruit fly.
