Philosophy can explain mathematics, and sometimes through mathematics.
There is a philosophical mathematics, but in general there is a
metaphysics for mathematics (and everything else). And Lester is
correct that we do not need to assume that existence (or knowledge) is
mathematical. That is a question with no satisfactory answer.
