I think OP is referring to the illusion of seeing a concave shape as a convex one, or vice versa. One of the most spectacular of these is a hollow mask rotated against a dark background and with a fairly strong sidelight falling on it. As it rotates, the concave side appears to become convex, which is the normal perception of a mask.
I guess that OP subjected himself to such an illusion, and his normal depth perception was reversed. I speculate that he trained himself to see the concave as concave rather than convex. I speculate further, that his depth perception reverted to normal fairly quickly, probably within a less than a day.
