There is good evidence that chimpanzees and gorillas are self aware:
they behave towards mirror images in ways that imply they see them as
images of themselves. I don't know about orangutans. Many animals (eg,
cats) recognise mirror images of themselves as members of the same
species, but do not exhibit behaviour that would imply awareness that
those images are of themselves.
