Re: my soul lives in the right hemisphere

i know, i know it's a bad habit. but i am extremely addicted to
shooting meth into my carotid arteries. the two experiences give me a
unique insight into the functions of the two hemispheres of the brain
and i'd like to pass the knowledge on, as best i can, lest my
depravity be in vain.

when i shoot meth into my right carotid artery my vibrations become
very still and "I" disappear. it seems as though i am experiencing
reality through a long tube. time flows and i feel perfectly at peace.
the most remarkable aspect is the quietness - the lack of any noise
whatsoever in my mind.

when i shoot meth into my left carotid artery it is a very different
experience. "I" am still there and it feels as though existence itself
is exploding at the speed of light. every thing or concept i regard
induces the answer, "YES!" i feel infinite, timeless, and very real.
i see the exclamation point at the end of every reality - i feel like
i am the period at the end of the ultimate sentence.

there seems to be two opposing tendencies in the fully functioning
mind: one spiralling down to a narrow focus, and the other exploding
outwards (perhaps to find something else to focus on?). the balance of
these forces yields consciousness as we all know it. it is remarkable
that time exists in one hemisphere and self exists in the other. i
hypothesize that self plus time equals consciousness.

i'd rather not ever perform this experiment again - it's very
dangerous in many different ways. but if i do find myself once again
with a needle in my neck, are there any experiments that would yield
greater insight into what's going on in my head? i'm thinking tasks
like trying to draw a circle or write a word or read something while
in that state. the rush lasts for 30-60 seconds. any comments from the
cognitive science community would be appreciated.

Sincerely, you'd rather try zazen.
