    Well, lessee... Post is too long...

    I got my "less than dialup speed" from a newsgroup for direcPC / direcway here
    a couple years ago, when members were complaining of less than dialup speeds
    for upload, others agreeing. I'd believe that over some slick web page with
    direcway in the logo - I think they just might be a little biased. BTW, I
    think those numbers on the web page are kilo _bits_ per second... not kilo
    bytes per second.

    For power outages, I'm interested in running my whole house, not just my
    computer, so the water heater certainly must be fed, and solar / batteries
    would fold under the load.
