Not suggesting that Stalinism is pleasant or desirable as an economic
system, how well does it actually function to fuel economic growth? Or
rather, how did a completely backward country of peasants turn into an
industrial powerhouse that militaraly challenged the most powerful
hegemony seen since Rome in a mere 40 years? Would the soviet unions
economy still be strong if they hadn't gotten less brutal after Stalin
died?
And would the Soviets have advanced as fast under US style capitalism?
Is North Koreas wreck of an economy analagous to the Soviet economy,
or are they distinctly different; Or rather, was the soviet economic
growth illusionary somehow?
