Economics is multifactorial just as its bigger science partner of
PoliticalScience.
Economics breaks down into food and water. Politics breaks down into land.
Both sciences are multi-factorial, but each science has *major factors* in
its multifactors. Oil is a predominant factor in economics because energy is
in all economic transactions.
I would say the price of oil since the world is chiefly run on oil energy is
about 60% of the world economics. That means you cannot have a World
Expansion while oil prices are in a rising phase.
Politicians in the USA can lie and jiggle the numbers such as using the
spending on the Iraq war to pretend as if the USA is in an Expansion when in
truth it is deep in Recession. But those same politicians cannot lie about
the cost of oil per any business day for that is too transparently clear of a
fact.
In fact, I often laugh at why the Fed Res Chairman surrounds himself with
silly and obnoxious numbers and data when all he really needs is the price of
oil and one or two other numbers that triangulate how the USA is really
doing.
I laugh at all those people who bought SUVs and Hummers as of recently.
Economists of the 20th century made too huge mistakes. First they seldom
factored human population size in their models or ideas and Freetrade of
NAFTA etc is one dark outcome of that ignorance. And secondly, most
economists factored in oil as if it was some regular old other commodity
instead of giving oil its preeminent slot.
The USA has been in a Recession starting 1999 and has not let up from that
Recession. And as oil keeps climbing higher that Recession keeps getting
uglier and uglier.
