Now on the other hand..if she simply took part in any of a myriad
government training programs, she could get a job that pays as well as
the other three and only have to work a 40 hour week.

Flipping burgers, doing maid service and custodial duties are
respectable jobs. However none of them allow one to raise a family. If
the work doesn't bring in enough funds, you find work that does. If
you have no skill sets, you learn some.
