It was not war, not factually and not legally. It was a deprivation of
strategic goods which the Nip Bastards would be using in China. We
offered to restore oil if they got out of China. The Nip Bastartds refused.
At no point did the U.S. interdict shipments of oil that Japan got from
other sources. The U.S. did not stop commerce on the high seas. It
forbade exports of certain materials to Japan from the U.S. and its
jurisdictions which it had a legal right to do.
I asked to to reference a single act of -war- (not embargo) against
Japan between 1925 and 1941. There aren't any. We did not interdict
their shipping. We did not interdict the shipping of third party
nations. We did not blockade their ports. We did not mine their harbors.
We never attacked any of their territories. Embargos from U.S. ports are
not acts of war, but legal restrictions on what can be shipped from U.S.
ports.
In fact even before 1941 they made war against us. Look up what
happended to the Panay when you get a chance.
