Hi,

He also make a big point of the claim that Social Security is an insurance,
and not an investment (or a retirement) program.
Problem is that lots of people seem to THINK that it is a retirement
program. But even now it hardly provides enough income to retire on, and is
likely to provide even less (relative to working income) in the future.

So maybe the solution is to "save" Social Security by phasing out the
"retirement" aspect and devoting all of the FICA to the insurance aspect:
disabled and such. And establishing personal investment accounts as the
"retirement" program. Like IRA's only the money deducted from the total
taxes people pay, not just from the INCOME tax that only the relatively high
income people now pay much of.
