Well said! I didn't realize that he has a "Mexican wife", but as long
as he doesn't try to smuggle in the whole family illegally, I give the
whole thing my blessings. He should also not vote for giving drivers
licenses to illegal immigrants, but I don't think he will (unlike some
Dumbocrats whom I shan't name for lack of time). Also not to give away
USA jobs to illegal immigrants - I'll withdraw my blessings if I even
hear a rumor of that from an unimpeachable source.
I do hope that she will learn or has learned English, unless she wants
to return to Mexico with her money or future money permanently or
siphon funds out of the USA into Mexico (that has been done by
unscrupulous people, but I don't believe that the Bushes will do that).
If she is of Mayan rather than Aztec descent, especially from Oaxaca, I
give her a double blessing and in fact might invite her to dinner.
People from Oaxaca make the Protestant Ethic look like loafing, that is
to say I've never met harder working people except for my wife Marleen
and me. There is rumored to be a slight bit of feuding there and in
adjacent States of Mexico (of the order of the Hatfield and McCoys),
but fortunately she's in the USA.
If she is a dark-skinned Mayan, she should know that there is enormous
prejudice in Mexico against dark-skinned people. The government there
has tended be controlled by light-skinned people tracing their origins
back to Spanish Conquistadors (not overtly - God no!), which is why
Mexico kowtows to Russia and China and Germany and Belgium and Spain
and at least past France and the Islamic bloc in the U.N. It's not
the blood - although there is a certain blood obsession in Mexico and
southward - but family training in Violence from the days of the
Spanish Conquistadors.
I join with Pope John Paul II who today gave the Sign of the Cross to
the assembled and with the Jewish Community who gives the sign of the
Star, so that we have essentially a Crossed Star in the Judeo-Christian
Tradition, in wishing Long Life for the Living, Resurrection for the
Dead except those who deserve Death (not a small number,
unfortunately), and Medical Research to prevent repeats of the
life-support fiascos. Eventually, I intend to tie this in with
sci.physics if I live that long. And so say ye all, Amen!
