"Grapes" is a propaganda piece. The settlement of Oklahoma for rural purposes was over before it started.

Agrarian "reform" has
been a mixture of subsidies to keep supply artificially
abundant and agressive automation/mechanization. Result?
Food is as cheap as ever, by any reasonable metric,
but rural life has become a lifestyle choice, not
a business choice. People do it, but even low
wage manufacturing makes more economic sense. Family
farms tend to run up a lot of debt.

The finance baseline for agriculture means it's a
big business now.

So there where no land granted to farmers like in the case of Mexico?

No, a farmer would have to claim the land by settlement. This
presumes there's no previous clear title to that land - and
even then "squatting" could cause transfer of title.

And I think this law expired - 1994?
