"Oh, no! The community put another $50K into my pocket last year for
doing nothing, and now I'll have to pay back a few hundred dollars of

back. After all, who says welfare should only be for the poor? The
community only gave me about five times as much as it gave a welfare
queen; I should be getting more than that, even though I'm not doing
any more to earn it than the welfare queen is."

?? They levy an _income_ tax?!? Same argument applies: earned income
is a measure of what the recipient contributes to the wealth of the
community by his productive efforts. Land value is a measure of what
the community contributes to the wealth of the landowner for doing
absolutely nothing whatever.
