I recommend using a dedicated news server with a seperate news reader instead of on the web.
For most (non-binary, just text) groups something like mozilla.org's thunderbird works fine. There are a lot of options out there, many freee so you can try several out.
For servers take a look at your options at a place like this

here are plenty of freely accessible servers but you may want to pay the few dollars a month for a premium subscription which may provide a better service.
