I don't think employers want health costs to rise - obviously they pay more.
And you are assuming they want to keep you. If health benefits are a
significant issue for you, they may not. And there are many stories of
companies trying to ease people out as they get older for many reasons. Also
in some situations the health benefits may be the same in the new job.
I've read, however, that Bush will propose something on this in the State of
the Union - perhaps with regard to pre-existing conditions.
