before you laugh. For an economic perspective, his argument is
impeccable. History shows us that after 3000 years of economic advance,
democracy have set us back by centuries, if not more than a milennium.

Who in the world can be so idiot to claim such a ridiculous crap ?
Look at the advancements made in democracy: computers, internet,
space ships, satelites, communications and all the technology we got in last
2 hundred years of democracy.

You're invoking the "Post Hoc ergo Propter Hoc" fallacy. Just because
somethin came *after* something else does not mean it is *because* of
this.

Let assume by absurd that the claim is true. Since the latest 300 years are
the widespread democracy we substract a millennium (how much we regressed
due to democracy :-) from 1700 and we reach the 700 AD. Looking at
Wikipedia for 8th century this should be out cutting edge technologies:

"""
heavy plow in use in the Rhine valley
horsecollar in use in Northern Europe in 8th or 9th century - perhaps
introduced from Asia
papermaking introduced from China to Arabs
beginning of the decline of the Classical Maya civilization
ca. 770: iron horseshoes come into common use
"""

No computers. internet, satelites, optical fiber, moon landing. Heck we
should still believe the Earth it is the center of the universe and the
moons and stars are painted on crystal spheres revolving around the flat
Earth which float on the ocean on back of 4 gigant turtles.

Actually, democracy has ponly been widespread since World War I.

This is measured by the human time preference, which is mirrored in the
various interest rates. With the come of democracy, the socialist
electorate has balooned and displaced traditional liberal-valued
politicians greatly, with an explosive growth of the state apparatus to
follow. But since you say you've been reading Mises from when I was in
diapers, I'm sure you know the rest of the facts?

Gee, you guys are really strange :-)

If not, buy his book. It's not that expensive, and it's a good read.
You should try reading his book
"Democracy- The God that failed"

I am sure it is a good reading. "Snow White" is a good reading too.

You should try reading it instead of making wisecracks about it. You
could learn something.
