"Bull$#!+. Henry George even wrote a
treatise, 'Protection or Free Trade,'
explaining his reasons for opposing most
government interventions in production
and trade."

Perhaps you should read the book, whose
full title is: *Protection or Free
Trade, an Examination of the Tariff
Question, with Especial Regard to the
Interests of Free Trade.*
If you will read it, you will see that
it has very little to do with "explaining
his reasons for opposing most
government interventions in production
and trade." It was mostly about the
tariff, a big issue in the latter half of the
nineteenth century.
The reason for that is very simple: the
biggest governmental intrusion you could
possibly think of is the Georgist single
tax.
