America's economy is 70% consumer-driven. Would you say that very
"backwards" nations like Afghanistan is ~100% consumer-driven, since
they don't have any exports (neglecting the effects of the black
market)?

1. What are the advantages/disadvantages of this type of economy?

The advantages are a lot of people scrambling to make goods for this
market. The disadvantages are more ephemeral.

2. What are the qualities of this?

See "Fight Club".

3. Finally, what other nations have a consumer-driven economy?

Europe. Increasingly, Eastern Europe as well.

All _real_ economies are consumer driven. If people don't want anything
then there is not a lot of sense in producing anything. And if you have to
sell them on the idea that they NEED it then you are just a rip off
artist. That would be a "snake oil" and "lip gloss" economy like we have
in the USA.
