Speaking of a worldwide currency, the IMF has had a worldwide currency
for years. It is called the ECU, the European Currency Unit. They did
all their accounting and financial statements in ECU's, not dollars. I
think they still do. The euro was based largely on the IMF's
experience with the ECU. I think anyone interested in a world currency
would do well to look at the ECU and how it worked. Personally, I
don't think it is best to slap a worldwide currency on the IMF but
rather set up a new organization to handle it.
