Re: Expert?

They say consult an expert before trying something dangerous. What
expert? How did the become expert? Who was the first expert? You mean
somebody with no experience at all did something and became expert? Then
why can ANYBODY do ANYTHING and become expert at it without consulting
an expert? Why should anybody need a license, anybody can train
themselves and become expert. Or is it really a protectionist scheme to
keep others out.

Much ot the time, people actually like "experts". If someone is
certified, that means the person seeking the help doesn't have to
bother with evaluating the information, they can just follow what
the "expert" says and if something goes wrong, they can say "but
I followed the expert".

People ask questions here all the time, and they don't have
any means of evaluating the answers. It's not that they need
"experts' it's that they need to be less lazy and do some study
themselves. The fact that people ask common questions here suggests
they aren't bothering with books, which often are more focused on
providing understanding rather than an end solution.

And sometimes it can be really amusing. Someone asks a question,
and since they have no background in the subject, they'll follow
any answer that gets posted. But then when a different answer
comes along, they'll veer off in that direction, until yet
another answer comes to steer them off in a third direction. It's
not that the repliers are steering them wrong, it's merely that
the original poster can't evaluate the answers, so they have
to take any answer literally. Unfortunately, the repliers
often take the questions too literarally, answer the question
rather than evaluating the question to try to determine
what the poster is really asking.
