(which are the same whatever side of the pond you're on).

JeefM's constant posting of "Don't MULTIPOST" messages is just another
form of spam - also against the charter.

If he really wanted to resolve the problem, he would research the real
email address of the posters and send the message to them.

Otherwise, it's just preaching to the choir...

Huh?

That's closing the barn door after the cows have escaped.

When the reply is posted for everyone to see, then that may reach
others who are tempted to post ads or whatever. When nobody is
challenging the bad posts, then it actually "gives permission" for
others to do it, "well he did it and nobody said anything...".

The joke is that as traffic slowly disappears, the ads keep coming.
They think it will help someone, or they think they'll reach a wider
audience, yet in reality they just help to kill off the newsgroup. There
may not be more ads than in the past, but they become a larger percentage
of the traffic as the real traffic dies off. Yet it is the real traffic
that brings people to a newsgroup, which is why the advertisers try to
ride on top of that. Without the real traffic, there's not much reason
for ads, because there won't be anyone here to read the ads.

Michael

I really didn't intend it to be an ad Michael.
Most of the other groups to which I belong welcome passing along info to
help others even if its a brief reference to an add.
I won't do it again. When a beginner asks, " Where can I get a good meter at
a decent price?" I'll remain silent.
Peace,
Tom
