It's the best practical reference out there.

For parts and supplies go to www.digikey.com Order their product
book online and get a hard copy...thumb through it to give you an idea
as to what kind of stuff is out there...there is also an electronic
version in PDF format.

IF you want to "dive in head first" go and get a kit from Parallax.com
They have all kinds of robot kits and other stuff. It's basically
an "embedded system" which how most electronic circuits have these
days. Just google BS2 projects. Email me if you have a specific
