There's probably nothing special about the red LED in question. Chances
are any old red LED will work in place. If you're replacing it you may as
well get a high brightness one in case it requires the extra illumination
to pick out detail well.

If it is the LED that's blown there could be something wrong with another
component causing the failure in the first place. If that is the case you
could be going through a great many LEDs!
