Are you trying to measure the AC current passing through a speaker.
I put a .02 ohm resistor in series with the speaker. Across that I have the
secondary of a small audio transformer. The 8 ohm side across the resistor
and the 1200 ohm side as my output. Frequency response is not perfect but
adequate.
The transformers are under $2.00 at Mouser.
