I read in sci.electronics.design that steve <steve.sv@virgin.net> wrote

Buyer career', on Sun, 8 Aug 2004:

You have enough technical knowledge to actually understand these guides:
1. Check that the purchasing spec. is complete. I knew a buyer who
bought 10000 off 25 uF 25 V capacitors because someone forgot to write
'350 V' on the spec. Check, too, before buying M*****la that Engineering
haven't assumed that you will buy the more costly T* part and haven't
tested any second source.
2. Don't place a bulk order until Engineering has seen **and tested**
samples. If they don't test them, it will still be your fault if they
don't work in production.
3. NEVER believe that something cheaper is 'exactly the same' as
something dearer. What matters is 'does it work'? and only Engineering
can tell you that.
4. Be methodical. Use the DESPAIR system (patent not applied for):
Data,
Engineering
Samples,
Price and
Availability
Information
Required.
