If you get past the responses to the provocatively-worded and absurdly
quantized polls, and really talk to people, most Americans rate
themselves very happy with their lives, families, and jobs. The
politics is sort of a sport, actually. Some people are angry and
discontent, and they tend to concentrate on newsgroups.
