In theory, I suppose that is true.
I sucked at spelling back in my youth when I was supposed to be learning
this stuff. I suppose I took Kevin's view. Gradually, by reading and by
trying to express myself, I absorbed better skills by osmosis and by
repetitive correction -- I did try to check most of what I wrote for
public consumption. Eventually I developed a strong, "that don't look
right", instinct that will send me looking for a dictionary.
Perhaps Kevin is too old a dog.
BTW, I appreciate your use of "ensure" rather than "insure". Someone
pointed out the difference to me about 20 years ago. However, ensure may
soon die from lack of use.
I also used to say nuclear like George Bush (nuk-u-lar) until someone
pointed it out to me. (I guess nobody has told him.) I was consistant
and said "nuk-u-las" too. Not now.
Then there is wash vs. "warsh". We can always learn if we are willing.
