Hear Hear! The problem as I see it (we are having exactly the same
debate here in NZ) is that the biblically inclined feel morally obliged
to force their views on the rest of us; to them the idea of such civil
unions is sufficiently abhorrent (despite the fact they dont have to
enter into one unless they choose to) as to warrant its banning.

Over here the conservative christian approach is generally met with a
"*** off dickhead" sort of attitude - hell, 2/3 of our entire
population doesnt believe in god - and they are losing the argument
quite decisively. I suspect its a different story in the US; only time
will tell.

Interestingly enough this evangelical zeal (I love that phrase!) is
often found in greenies (you know, no more coal power stations, no
nukes, no hydro, no wind power, but they still drive an SUV and watch
TV) and public health advocates - you know, that want to tax unhealthy
foods so as to force people to eat what is "good" for them. Personally,
I say let the fat bastards die, or pay for their own medical bills.

Cheers
Terry
