I suggest

²v¯(a+b) = v¯(a+b) = (a+b)^(1/2) = (a+b)^½ = sqrt(a+b)

³v¯(a+b) = (a+b)^(1/3)

The ASCII-grams have the worst readability of the bunch, IMO.
