Well, I've never had a NAIL GUN kick back and fire a nail into me, no.

This is precisely my point. I _do_ go probe around very tender places. A
few years ago, I tried to abruptly quit drinking alcohol. I had seizures.
Very, very weird experience. Well, after this one seizure, I awoke to find
myself sitting on the floor, with a co-worker blotting my head. He claimed
that he thought I cracked my head on the floor, but I reached up, and felt
- palpated - my head, and I had a gouge in my scalp. It was obvious to me
that I had hit the corner of the machine on the way down.
And the whole point of my tirade is the unfeelingness that it would take
to either A: ignore a horrendous injury like that or B: swallow either
political dogma and be an obedient little minion.

Well, I had a sore on my penis once that I had to debride about three
times a day. And, as I've reported, I've never shot myself in the head
with a nail gun, but I _do_ at least ascertain the extent of my injuries.
I didn't poke around much that time my hand went through a car window and
opened the base of my thumb all the way down to the bone - that one was
pretty obvious. But yeah - there's been damage, what do we need to do to
fix it?

How about that famous story about the guy who got a tamping-iron through
his whole frontal lobe? I guess his personality changed. I don't remember
the name, but he shows up on Ripley and the like from time to time.
Thanks,
