Thanks for all the straightforward help, Chris. I've done exactly as
you suggested; I've looked at a lot of data sheets and schematics, and
found the best solution (after getting all the great advice here) is to
use the 2803 to operate some small relays. Thanks for the tip on using
the diode across the load.
