Apparently written in about 1935 by a history teacher, to make his lessons more interesting. The main thing that went wrong (for the Brits) at the BONO seems to have been that they forgot to bring the scaling ladders. That left them standing in the open, unable to storm the defences, an easy target for the American defenders, and picked off one at a time until they broke and ran.
