Where to find LCM / system design info?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to learn about ways to program a monochrome graphical liquid
crystal module (128 x 128 or 128 x 96).

Can anyone suggest some resources to go read about using microprocessors /
asics / fpgas to accomplish such a task?
