I read in sci.electronics.design that Ken Smith <kensmith@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote (in <dfif6a$hgt$3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>) about 'Is New Orleans finished ?', on Mon, 5 Sep 2005:
Scientists are more used to dealing with other scientists. They tend to assume that once something is disproven, it will stay disproven.
Science can't DISprove anything, and to the extent someone claims to, he is not a scientist.
This is why we have all the bother with loonies starting scare stories about any and every aspect of technology and saying, 'There you are, you can't prove it isn't so!'.
There was an article published in UK a few years ago about the connection between electromagnetic fields and child leukaemia in which someone described as 'a doctor' reported getting an electric field of 60 V/m from the immersion heater in a hot water tank.
