Sounds like a DE-9 (D-subminiature style, shell size E, 9 pins).

The Amiga 1000 had a 23-pin D-Sub connector, connecting to the external
floppy, I believe. Since there was no established shell size for that
connector, it was hard to buy. A friend of mine just took a file to a
DB-25.
