there is a free router-project aviable called fli4l, www.fli4l.de,
IIRC there is also some english sides aviavble. One of the (optional)
packages allows also a serial Interface for Laptops or other.
Also take a look at www.ipcop.org, which is somehow similar, but I
don`t know if there is a serial Interface aviable...
