Whoever came up with this evacuation plan should be strung up.

Ordinary

rush hour trafic on a nice day creeps at 20mph tops. That's with

the

normal load of cars and people that actually know their way around,

now

they've more than trippled the load (it was already packed) and

no-one

knows anything but to stick to the freeway. It seems a no-brainer

that

traffic would creep at 2mph under those conditions.

You must be nervous as hell with all those misspellings. The high

winds

will not be your problem so much as flash floods and/or mud slides-

and

WTF? Mudslides? You don't have a clue do you? High winds is pretty
much my only concern at this point. Now if the storm makes a loop and
gets stuck (like allison) then flooding _will_ be a concern for me. But
right now, I'm on the dry side of the storm and 10" of rain isn't likely
to flood me since it's been so dry lately. 60-80mph winds won't blow my
house down either.

BTW, mudslide is one word.

Isn't that some kind of flat desert type of terrain down there? The point is moot, the hurricane is there now and you will get what you get.

you might have purchased ammunition while you were stocking food, of

the

Already got ammunition, it's not like I use a bunch.

non-perishable variety, and water. You will soon be at third-world
subsistence level.

How so? There's plenty of loot available. No water or gas available
though. Good thing I have plenty, huh?

Well- you might divert your guttering into a few plastic 50 gallon drums if potable water is going to be a problem. And how much cash have you kept in hand? And too bad you didn't convert at least some of your utilities to solar- a field expedient swamp cooler will look like high living compared to what you might be in for.
