The only thing FEMA had around here was bottled water, and a couple
truck loads of ice. The kept promising MREs, but I never got any. I
wanted to try them, because the last military rations I had were older
than me. They were WWII surplus that we got during cold weather
survival training in the early '70s. I was in my 20s, and they were
over 30 years old. It was real funny to watch the nicotine freaks try
to smoke 30 year old cigarettes. If it didn't just turn to dust when
they opened the packet, they would light them and take a puff. The
whole cigarette would turn bright red and burn their fingers. ;-)
