British science journalists don't know anything about science. It isn't
just a problem with the BBC - all the quality newspapers are stuck with
science journalists who make this sort of mistake.
I've no reason to suppose that American science journalists are much
better - even the Scientific American used to get scientists to write
its articles, rather than trsuting their in-house journalists.
Dutch science journalists do a great deal better, but you have to learn
dutch to appreciate them.
