Family's 1200 miles away. Wife's in bed with an awful cold. Mom's
choking through last stages of emphysyma. Favorite Uncle's gone into
the hospice last week (prostrate cancer - age 74). Been shoveling snow
and nursing my wife this morning. Headed to the TV station within the
hour for a 24 hour shift; five miles down unplowed backroads, 40 miles
drive on snowy roads then five miles by snowmachine up ski trail to top
of Mt. Mansfield. Had Thanksgiving meal alone; bowl of soy yogurt.
And yet...the snow, lightly settled on the red spruce trees just
outside my window reminds me of why I love Vermont. Bach's Prelude and
Fugue in D just finished playing on http://www.radioswissclassic.ch.
Last night I came up a nice proof for a Japanese Temple Geometry puzzle
that I've been musing over.

All is well. Life is a gift.
"If the world does not appear magical, blame yourself; tell yourself
that you are not poet enough to call forth its riches." Rilke, "Letters
to a Young Poet"
Happy Thanksgiving,
