Even better would be if governments outlawed bundling OS with hardware. You should be able to buy your computer with the operating system of _your_ choice paid for and installed instead of a built in charge for a POS.
Thats stupid. You can buy computers now without bundled software
if you want them.
Sure, if you assemble a desktop from parts or have a smaller shop do that for you. Kind of the usual custom build.
But have you ever tried that with laptops? Most of these can only be bought with Windows on there and then you pay for the OS with your purchase price. Whether you want to or not. Your are, of course, at liberty to ditch the OS later but that's like buying a car where you don't like the radio and rip it out, to replace it with a better one. You are still paying for the original one.
