Wake up to what? Bending to threats from fanatics? WWII should have
taught you Europeans how much that buys you. And you people are
betraying your ancestors who fought hard and long to keep these people

Why not go back to Adam and Eve. That old WWII argument has worn out.
The credits for that belong to your ancestors, not to the politicians
and decision makers of today. The world has changed since WWII, so
please, at least wake up to that simple fact.

Yes it has, but in ways that make things much more lethal. There is
nothing new under the sun,, the same hate filled mentality exists today
and the past does hold valuable lessons that are more applicable than

ever.

More lethal, you can say that again. The folks in Iraq know all about
it now. The valuable lessons learned in the past tend to get ignored,
even our short-term memory seems pretty crappy. Re-election of GWB was
an excellent example of that. In the old days you could use the excuse
of not being informed, but today we have plenty of information,
unfortunately it doesn't seem to improve our decisions.

I would hardly call *anything* the Bush administration does a "decision." The American people think it's cool to be dumb, ignorant, and impulsive, and they are now paying the price because this grossly mismanaged war is draining government resources which could be spent on far more constructive projects. They're too stupid to realize that the so-called 9/11 attack should never have happened but for gross incompetence and negligence of all the US government agencies responsible for preventing it- the whole thing should have been just another failed terrorist fantasy. And they don't seem to be fazed by the complete failure of the new Homeland Security Department to do much better, this coming from their own Inspector General and numerous expert insiders. Also the idiots are completely unperturbed by all the rock-solid evidence proving there was no justification for the invasion of Iraq in the first place, the whole thing was a trumped up fraud and abuse of authority. And how did the Russians obtain the complete and detailed US plans for the ground invasion of Iraq? Is it that our government and military is infested with traitors at the highest level? Why hasn't that news turned into a national scandal? Another disturbing development arising from the war in Iraq is the accelerated development of autonomous, armed, predator drone technology with the capability for 100% surveillance in time and space. Are these damned fool Americans so damned dumb they don't realize this is going to be turned on them someday? America's problems run much deeper than having GWB in the White House, GWB is only a symptom and not a cause. The US government requires a revision of its architecture. The knuckle dragging inbreds don't understand that, but it was the intent of the original authors that Constitutional Conventions be held every 25-50 years, and the purpose of those conventions would be to revise the Constitution in adaptation of lessons learned and new developments. This is way the hell long overdue- and the damned hoi poloi need to be kept the hell out of it.
